Why 30% are not pedophiles:
- Ephebophiles. Men who are not pedophiles, but preferred or equally preferred the prepubescent stimuli, because the adult stimuli were too mature. Estimated 7% reduction
- Unmarried men. These men were over – represented, suggesting that deviants were more prevalent in the sample. Estimated 3% reduction.
- Homosexuals. Gay men may tend to prefer the more androgynous bodies of little girls, as opposed to mature women. Estimated 5% reduction.
- Fleeting personal preference. Statistically, more adult – attracted males (the majority) may have had an outlying preference for the prepubescent material, than minor – attracted males had for the adult material. Thus, this randomising effect slightly increases those preferring the prepubescent material. Estimated 3% reduction.
- Taboo. The viewing of prepubescent material may be the very first time a man has been aroused in such a way, and he may become more aroused, as a result. On the other hand, he may repress his desire, but there is little evidence to suggest that this is possible. Estimated unknown negative or positive effect on 30%
- Removal of three sexually active ‘pedophiles’. The impact on a sample of eighty would probably be around 3% increase.
I therefore make a rough estimate of 15%, for (preferential) pedophilia in heterosexual men. Note that this does not make them incapable of bonding with mature women or having a family.
